Reflections: Soulful Lessons from a Color Blocked Dresser

by Landis Carey on February 10, 2012

Isn’t the dresser above stunning? It may very well be the most successful piece of color blocked furniture ever.

I love all the greens paired together and the way they cheerfully pop, especially that bottom right drawer pull that’s illuminated in contrast to the green it’s against. After lusting over this piece for awhile, I began to wonder what makes that one tiny drawer pull stand out. It’s backdrop seems to be the perfect compliment, one that doesn’t make it appear too bright or too dull, and it’s also well balanced against the darker drawer pull on the bottom left.

All of this got me thinking. The success of this piece of furniture has some pretty soulful lessons to teach.

We all have our dull and bright moments, yes? But what if we color our surroundings with those hues that make us pop by spending time with loved ones and doing activities that recharge us for the days ahead. We’ll certainly have more bright moments than dull ones, right? I sure know when I spend time coloring my surroundings with such such hues, I surely glow with happiness.

How about you…What’s your perfect compliment? What makes you glow?
