Frames from Our Weekend: The Far Hills Hunt

by Landis Carey on October 25, 2011

Saturday morning hubby and I woke early and dressed in sweaters, sunglasses and mud-friendly foot attire. We bundled up for the day-long Far Hills Races—typically called The Hunt—where you’ll be sure to find hay bale seating, muddy grounds, beautiful horses, fall-colored trees, stuffed foxes, and many who’ve indulged on too much hard liquor. It’s a sight, and I promised my sweet friend Liz to document a few of the event’s details.

The day’s highlights were visiting with friends and, of course, watching the horses race around the track and over the course’s hurdles. It was a great time, being outside, enjoying the fresh fall air and later returning to Maplewood for an early dinner with friends where we laughed for hours and enjoyed everything from beets to burgers to chicken potpie and ice cream.
