Frames from Our Weekend

What a lovely end to a joy-filled, adventurous summer.

We feel so lucky to have spent a week in Nantucket to send off the season. It’s quickly becoming a favorite spot with its remote beaches and quiet evenings. Each day was perfect: the warm sun and cool breezes meant we could spend hours on the beach, laying out or under an umbrella, devouring our books and soaking in the sounds of our surroundings. We left our bikes at home this trip and opted for a jeep rental for a few days instead. We were able to explore parts of the island only accessible by four wheel drive, something we didn’t do during our first trip earlier this summer.

We arrived home late Sunday after a few stops along the way: a breakfast reunion with long-time, childhood friends and then a dinner BBQ in Maplewood where we dined on ribs, chicken, slaw, potato salad and lentils with the most interesting crowd. It was the best possible way to end our summer.

Lots of chores await me this week, but the one I’m most excited about is cleaning and reorganizing the pottery studio. The month of August was a nice break but I’m ready to get my hands dirty again. How about you, what do you look forward to doing more of in the new season?
