Who doesn’t love Amy Butler patterns and prints?! I certainly do! So I was pretty excited to see these decorating tips from her in the recent issue of Fresh Style.

  • It’s not all about money or talent: it’s about creativity and love. Put your personality into everything, and make it your own.
  • The very act of participating in your personal appearance and the creation of your surroundings defines how you can see yourself.
  • You don’t need to follow trends. Keep your home and life kinetic so that you can continually breathe new life into them.
  • Reduce, reuse, recycle…we hear it all the time, but these are such important rules to live by.
  • Approach design with a mixture of curiosity, spontaneity, and a genuine love of creating something just for you.
  • Cut flowers are always a luxury: try to incorporate them in your home or office whenever possible. Grow them if you can!
  • I’m all about flexibility in design—nothing is easier than using pillows as your quick-draw design elements. I keep the back-grounds of my spaces somewhat neutral so that I can inject these bright hits based on a whim.

Creativity, love, cut flowers and flexibility…these are all winners!
