Design Within Reach Davey Deck Light

Design Within Reach Davey Deck Light

Three years ago when hubby and I were first married he mentioned not needing to ask his opinion about every décor decision. While he cared, he was comfortable deferring to me. This was sweetest offer, but I think he cares more than he wants to admit: he dog-ears more pages in our design catalogs than I do and frequently asks about this or that. It’s totally cute, so last night, when again, he calls me into the living room to show me his latest find, I declared I would blog his Decor Hunts. I would call them Hubby Picks.

Because I don’t indulge in every Decor Hunt I love, this can be a little outlet for him, too. And I totally love his style, so it’s adorable!

Hubby Picks: The Davey Deck Light in Bronze from Design Within Reach. When asked why, he explains, “it matches the era of our house and has the maritime sensibilities of the people who live in the house (that’s us!). And it looks great. Every time I come home, I’ll see those lights flanking the front door, and I’ll feel a little like I’m boarding the deck of a boat.”

History: Davey & Co was established in 1885 and has roots dating back to the shipyards of London; the company serviced marine merchants, and it’s said their products graced the decks of some of history’s best-known vessels, including the Titanic.

Specs: 15″ tall by 9″ wide, these classic-designed Deck Lights are $425 each (surely too steep for our budget!) from Design Within Reach

Tell me, Friends: Does your hubby dog-ear design catalogs?

I love this new series! Tiho pretends to feign interest in our household decor decisions but then when it comes down to it, he never holds back with voicing his opinion.

By the way, just replied to your email–very excited!
