The Joy of Folding a Fitted Sheet

Linen Closet

Over the weekend while in Maryland for a dear friend’s baby shower, several of us fell into a lively tutorial of ‘How to Fold a Fitted Sheet.’ We were totally silly, laying a giant, king-sized sheet on our host’s kitchen floor, but it was a good laugh and made me realize just how much I love the trick the You Tube video below taught me last year.

Sure, go ahead an laugh that I’m blogging about folding fitted sheets…but look how you can’t tell the difference between the flat and fitted sheets in my linen closet above. Watching this tutorial a few times to get the trick might just be worth it, huh?

Don’t worry if you’re totally confused by what Mrs. Living on a Dime is saying. Just head over to your linen closet and grab a fitted sheet, but don’t pick a twin-sized one because they can be a little confusing at first. It took watching the video at least six times and following along step-by-step for me to get the trick, so just be patient.

Just to mention: There are many You Tube videos about folding fitted sheets, but I love this one mostly because you don’t need a giant surface to fold the sheet on, which several of the other techniques require. I fold my laundry in the basement and don’t have immediate access to a large, non-basement like surface, so this one is perfect!

Friends: Try it out and report back!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!

What a great topic, how did you know?! My other half launders the sheets, I can’t quite describe what he does to our queen size fitted sheets when he puts them away in the linen closet, but I wouldn’t define it as fold. Can’t wait to try the version mentioned above, so I can show him!

A tidbit of advice: watch the video several times before trying and then grab a sheet a follow along. Good luck, SOS!

I have always struggled with this, but it turns out I was on thenright track. I had the right routine up to folding in thirds – brilliant! now my closet is so much better without the lumpy fitted sheets falling forward. Thank you

There such a surprising satisfaction from not being able to tell your fitted sheets from your flat sheets, huh?
