Reflection: What would you like to do more of in your home?

Have I mentioned yet that I’ve been reading (and re-reading and re-visiting) Apartment Therapy founder Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan’s The Eight Step Home Cure? I am, and I’m loving it!

I’ve been reading the book to prep for a new project I’m doing with Apartment Therapy—can’t wait to share the details once August rolls around—that you’re all going to love! Here’s a hint: it’s all about color! I know that’s a favorite topic for a few of you, so keep an eye out.

But, before I divulge all of that, I’ve begun working my way through The Eight Step Home Cure—I find Maxwell’s process of “curing” a space totally insightful. I’ve only just begun, so I promise to hash out the details as I continue, but for now, I wanted to share with you one question he asks that’s totally resonated with me…

What one thing would you like to do or do more of in your apartment or home?

In his book, Maxwell theorizes that what challenges exist in your home may very well be reflected in your personal or professional life, as well. By clearing out your space, making it more usable for you and breathing life into it with décor and personalization, you can actually have a profound effect not only on your space but on your life, as well.

So, as I move through week one, I’ve been pondering: what one thing would I like to do or do more of in our home? The truth: I would like to read more. Thinking this, makes me wonder…is it that our space is lacking proper reading spots or do I need to carve out more time for such activity? Either way, just asking the questions means I’m heading in the right direction.

Tell us: What one thing would you like to do or do more of in your apartment or home? Relax? Read? Entertain?
