Thursday Reflection: Deep, Rich Shades of Happiness

by Landis Carey on June 9, 2011

I often find myself moving so fast through my to-do list and life that I forget, not where I began, but the beginning state, look or feel of where it was that I began. I become so comfortable with where I am in that exact moment as I continually look forward that I loose sense of how whatever it is that I’m working on has evolved.

For example, I know that when we moved into our home it was empty and the walls were white; I know this. But it wasn’t until I recently saw the images of what the space looked like fifteen months ago that I realized just how much work we’ve done and how we’ve made the space our own.

A friend of mine and I always have a good laugh when we make light of my super-focused intensity. We giggle, saying that I’m like┬áthe road runner moving fast in one direction, sometimes not even knowing where I am until I stop for a moment to assess where I’ve wound-up. Sometimes I must slightly changing course or completely turn around if I wasn’t meant to go down a particular path, it’s the downside to my focus.

I’ve just finished one of those super long marathons and, when I stopped to look around earlier this week, I knew I wanted to keep moving in the same direction with no turns. I am where I am and I’m extremely happy. I’m thrilled to continue running in the same direction with my head down, popping up every so often to check on my orientation and, of course, to make sure hubby has clean undershirts.

So, a big thank you, to all of you who chime in and keep coming back to Mint Peach. I am so grateful for your kindness and encouragement: You’re coloring my world with deep, rich shades of happiness!
