Reading Roundup

by Landis Carey on April 30, 2011

What’s the most giant mistake we’ve made since we moved into our tiny but tall Maplewood, New Jersey home? We successfully killed the lawn last summer; we let it scorch in the 100 plus degree weather last July 4th weekend while we were away. So, what now? Our lawn looks like a petting zoo and smells like a farm: We hired a lawn company to tear out most of the yard, deal with the grubs and lay new seed, which they then covered with hay. Like it or not, you walk out the front door and it smells like a farm. I’m not convinced it’ll work, so I asked Re-Nest readers what to do: Front Farm or Grass-Free Garden? I’m LOVING their responses!

Don’t have any space but want herbs? You’ll dig this idea from poppytalk!

Love this post about Pigeon Toe Ceramics. I was so inspired and now know which direction I’m heading.

If you adore Amy Butler patterns (which you all know I DO!), you’ll fall deeper once you tour her home.

What’s our next project to make our old home young again? Master bedroom. Thinking about an accented wall of wallpaper, a plush carpet, a ceiling fan and this dresser. But neither of these inspirations are economical, so more to come on that.

Happy Weekend! XO
