Frames from Our Weekend

by Landis Carey on March 14, 2011

Our 1922 house was bustling with activity this weekend. Saturday was spent preparing for a surprise birthday party: a red velvet cake was made from beets; floors were swept; flowers were arranged.

Hubby spent the weekend visiting his family so a dear friend I’ve known for 15 years took the trip from Manhattan to help get everything in order.

Sunday morning as we reviewed the events of the previous evening and delved into deep discussion of life events and changes, I noticed the beautiful light streaming in the windows highlighting our pumpkin pancake breakfast.

So, I grabbed my camera and snapped these frames to capture the surface details that surrounded our insightful conversation.

Our house shined this weekend. Guests easily enjoy its various spaces: laughs were had and new friendships made. I fell in love with it a little more and realized all the work we’ve done has begun to make it young again.
