Our ‘American Modern’ Pitcher Pours, As Russel Wright Intended

by Landis Carey on March 2, 2011

I’ve been totally loving my Living with Less project over at Re-Nest. I’ve been paring back our belongings while trying to keep only what’s “essential, valued and beautiful,” as mo+mo living recommends. An unanticipated side effect of the project has been my rethinking what we’re not only purging but also what we’re keeping, and I’ve developed a new (healthy!) habit because of it.

In desperately considering our kitchen and my love for all things cooking, one special piece has stood out: the beautiful Russel Wright pitcher (seen here) that was an incredibly thoughtful wedding gift from a dear friend.

For the past three years it’s sat adoring our bookshelf like a work of art, until about three weeks ago. I now fill it first thing in the morning and it resides on our kitchen table throughout the day. I love that we’re making it serviceable, as its design intended, while also increasing our water intake!

I wish blogs had a ‘like’ feature like facebook, b/c I really ‘like’ this post! While I can’t give up my Brita pitcher, I love the idea of keeping fresh water out & accessible every day. And in such a pretty vessel! I may need to take my beloved Mackenzie-Childs pitcher off the bookshelf now…

Definitely don’t give-up the Brita pitcher! Luckily we have a reverse osmosis water system on our kitchen sink so we can drink straight from it. Pull that beloved Mackenzie-Childs off the shelf and get to it! Thanks for checkin-in!
