Décor Hunting at MindfulNest in Santa Monica

by Landis Carey on February 23, 2011

Selling wares from over 100 local artists, MindfulNest in Santa Monica was filled (almost stuffed) with an array of gifts and décor. My eye was caught by pottery, feather hair clips and these artworks by Atlanta artist Houston Llew.

Called Spiritiles, they are handmade with molten glass on copper. Each has its own sentiment imprinted on the side (see images) and they were $100 apiece.

While I didn’t bring one home, the medium’s storied history (it dates back to the thirteenth century B.C.) and the work’s durability (they are not affected by moisture or sunlight) where enough of a reason to share.
